What makes a Home James Taxi Driver?
We are dedicated to offering customers a great service. That means always arriving on time, being open, helpful and friendly.
Some customer like to talk, some like to sit back and relax in the quiet so a Home James driver will also know how to be quiet!
You will need at least five years driving experience around the Cirencester area and a clean UK driving license. We will also need a check for any criminal convictions.
We are looking for people who will care about our customers and want to offer great service. We are looking for great people to work with us. Your gender, age and colour isn't relevant.
You need to know the area around Cirencester. Our best drivers have grown up in Cirencester so they know all the secrets about local attractions and the quickest route when the traffic is heavy. Yes you will use sat nav to take a customer to their home in London - but we'll expect you to know the local streets and hotels.
We have 15 drivers working for us so if you want to take time off because the weather's nice - it's rarely a problem.
What's hard about being a taxi driver
A good taxi driver is also an actor. When we're tired, we don't show it. We are always calm and organised (at least at work).
Being a taxi driver is tiring. You need to be alert all day - even for a 4am drive to Manchester Airport. Actually the hardest part is the drive back when you just have the radio for company.
There will be quiet periods when it can get boring or lonely - so it helps if you're happy to accept these times to read a book, catch up on the news, or play on your phone.
We're often busy early in the morning and late at night so you will be asked to start work some mornings at 5am. If you like to lay in until 10 every day then this isn't the job for you.
You need to be reasonably fit and healthy. Our customers may need help with getting their luggage in and out of the car. Some customers are older and may need a little assistance getting themselves in or out of the car. You certainly don't need to an athlete but if you have a lot of back problems then it's not the ideal job for you.
Money
Our drivers are self employed and pick their own hours. That means we have some drivers who work just a day or two a week and others who work 5 days a week. This means your income is flexible - the more you do, the more you earn.
We offer a range of packages for our drivers. Normally we supply everything for you: the car, insurance, licensing with the local council. You can simply focus on giving our customers a great service - we look after everything else.
You won't meet any millionaire taxi drivers but all of us earn a good income - and enjoy the flexibility that the job offers.
Sounds good - How do I apply?
Send us an email telling us a little bit about yourself including your driving experience. You don't have to have any taxi driving experience (although that helps!).
Include your phone number so we can call you back and arrange to meet you.
